Apparently, he thought we were joking when we told him that there will not be a second chance! So, we moved without him and he went back to his old ways. I cried but nothing happened! Chibudu was gone.
In that village where he came from, there was no child that didn't bow to an idol. All their elders deceived them and they thought that was the only way out. When Chibudu met me, he was lucky that I was in good mood. So, we spoke at length about what is wrong with Nigeria. Later, he recorded my sayings and sent it to one of his uncles who was in Kogi and that one threatened to kill me but he didn't know that I lived every day like nothing mattered! I was there when Attahiru gave his life to Christ, I was there when Ikejiri regretted marrying two wives and I was there when the king was dethroned because those in diaspora didn't like him. I didn't say anything because I was busy pursuing my passion.
My goal in life was to marry a woman who will deal with me mercilessly and when I met Chika, I knew she was the one because in my last world, I was too quiet. So, I promised myself that I will shout too much when I come back. So, it happened that technology had spoilt a lot of things by the time I returned to this planet Earth as a new being. Details of my last life on Earth might cause havoc. so, let's keep it aside.
Chibudu came to visit my elder brother on a day that I went to play football at the field and God so kind, I didn't actually know how to play. I was just there because I was told that the thing would be posted online for the whole world to see and I just wanted to make history and and at the end, I turned out to be a good defender. While they were celebrating me, Chibudu came by my side and told me that he wanted to give his life to Christ and I told him to repeat himself and he did after which I sensed honesty in his voice. So, I called three of my strong friends to break the curse over his life and while we were praying, his uncle's call came in telling him to come to Kogi and pick up the keys to a shop filled with goods that he had opened for him. Knowing how terrible Chibudu's background was from the things he told me, I told him not to go because I sensed danger but within the twinkle of an eye, he rushed out of the arena as though, he was going to grab the world cup or some spicy trophy! I shook my head in disgust but there was nothing I could do as it was his life.
The last we heard of him, he was washing his Oga's car in the city and was singing of leaving Nigeria because the uncle deceived him and sold him out to another Chief who enrolled him in a school where he was learning barbing skills. In fact, the uncle gave him out on loan!
We tried everything to help him but he choose his back! Now, we're resting.
